The randomness primarily comes in gear, but you'll get items consistently enough that if you want to focus on a certain build, you'll be able to do it confidently. It's a fun run based RPG where you can build your character rather consistently, iterating on your choices along the way. Until then, Arcade mode is great pick up and play co-op roguelike RPG mode for me and a friend. I wouldn't touch a story game with a story still awaiting completion. I'm waiting for the full 1.0 release, which at the time of writing is still awaiting the final dungeon. Contrary to what some other reviewers say, I think the Arcade mode is very fun, and adds a lot to the game in fact, I've never played the story mode.
